6 Foods to help you sleep
Life can get busy and you may find yourself craving a nap, snooze, catnap, siesta, blanket drill… Or you may find yourself counting sheep instead of getting to sleep! To tap into your full power nap potential, we’ve identified 6 foods to help you sleep.
Foods to improve your sleep
When hoping to catch some quality z’s, avoid heavy, sugar-loaded food that may result in a sugar crash. It’s better to stick to foods that can naturally assist in relaxation and sleep, including:
1. Turkey – Turkey contains tryptophan, an amino acid that can help increase relaxation and sleepiness.
2. Dairy products – Dairy products, such as milk and yogurt, are high in calcium and other nutrients that are linked to relaxation and sleep.
3. Whole grains – Whole grains can help regulate blood sugar levels and provide sustained energy for the body – no sugar crashes here!
4. Fruits – Many fruits, like cherries and kiwi can help balance sleep cycles.
5. Leafy greens – Leafy greens are high in vitamins and minerals that can improve overall health and help promote sleep.
6. Herbal tea – Herbal teas, such as chamomile or valerian root, have natural sedative properties that can help you relax and fall asleep more easily.
