At Metro Diner, we love our Fried Chicken & Waffles so much we made it an annual holiday! To celebrate our 3rd annual National Fried Chicken & Waffle Day on August 8th, we wanted to let you in on a few fun facts about your favorite dish:

1 - While fried chicken and waffles originated in the south, the dish has seen many regional variations – ever heard of fried catfish and waffles? It was a 19th century Pennsylvania Dutch delicacy. Fast forward to 1917 when a Chicago restaurant advertised a Southern chicken dinner with waffles and real maple syrup (35 cents each!) Today, Metro Diner serves more than 1,300 orders of fried chicken and waffles every day!
2 - There are 32 holes on the Metro Diner Belgian Waffles in this popular dish that perfectly capture a tasty serving of strawberry butter and spicy syrup glaze.
3 - Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri is a big fan of Metro Diner’s Fried Chicken and Waffles – he featured them on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network.
4 - It takes 48 hours to brine and marinate the chicken to give it maximum flavor and juiciness, before we pour even one drop of the sweet and spicy sauce that so perfectly complements the delicious dish.
5 - In 2019, Metro Diner sold more than 485,000 orders of our Fried Chicken & Waffles – that’s nearly two million pieces of fried chicken!

We are hosting a three-day social media contest (Aug. 8-10) where lucky diner fans have the chance to win the dish for FREE along with a variety of prizes! The grand prize awards one winner with FREE Fried Chicken & Waffles for an entire year. Ten second place winners will receive a one-time free order of Fried Chicken & Waffles for two to share with a friend, and twenty third place winners will receive a one-time free single order of the dish.
Starting, Saturday, August 8th at 8 a.m. through Monday, August 10th at 12 p.m., when our followers “like” our National Fried Chicken & Waffle Day post on our Instagram and/or Facebook page and tag a friend, they will be entered to win one of the above three prizes. For five additional entries, our followers can share their own post of the Fried Chicken & Waffle dish following the rules on our contest post.
