“Some things are worth waiting for, and the recently opened Metro Diner on Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg is one of them. Upon entering I couldn’t ignore the pains taken by management to keep a spotlessly clean interior. A well lit dining area with abundant seating (larger than what appears to be from the outside) and the charming greeters at the door say ‘welcome’. A server came to our table immediately and patiently took time to answer questions about menu items. I ordered the Three Egg Breakfast and my wife the Grilled 3 Cheese sandwich with bacon and tomato. In no time at all our order was ready. My wife said her sandwich was delicious. I couldn’t decide which meat to choose as part of my meal so I flipped a coin and then chose sausage with a side order of bacon (as if I would deny myself of either!). Every item tasted like it was freshly made, and we could tell the difference. The owner stopped by our table to introduce himself and ask if we were pleased with our meals. “Great service, everyone is pleasant and makes sure you have anything you need. You’re greeted immediately and made to feel welcomed. The food is good – I’d say a little bit “nicer” than typical diner food. We’ve had salads, soup, breakfast, burgers, fish fry, etc. and everything was very good. Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is clean, nice and enjoyable experience. Servers Lil and Desi have been great, in addition to the others! Back again, usually once a week (who wants to cook for n Fridays?!). “Had a late breakfast/lunch/brunch on the way out of town here and someone in my party of 6 had been to a Metro Diner before so it came highly recommended. Loved the vibe and liked how simple but effective the menu was. Not to mention, the special roast of the day was Jamaican Me Crazy coffee, of which I drank at least a gallon. I went breakfast route with the Western Omelette, which was overflowing with ham, onion, mushroom, and peppers with cheese and salsa. Very, very good and pairs with the crispy hashbrowns and the big slices of toast. Our server was super nice and attentive, and though we were’t complicated, it was a large group.
