A fast-growing casual dining concept will open its fourth location in the tri-county area in mid-October.
Metro Diner broke ground April 9 on a 3,350-square-foot eatery at 8390 Pines Blvd. in Pembroke Pines. It will feature indoor seating for 100 people and covered outdoor patio seating for 24 people. The company is in the process to hire 100 workers for positions including cooks, servers, kitchen staff, and five management roles.
Metro Diners serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and are often near shopping centers or busy thoroughfares. Its signature dishes include fried chicken and waffles, Charleston shrimp and grits, and meatloaf.
The Tampa-based chain has expanded to 11 states since opening in 1992. It currently operates 24 restaurants in the Sunshine State, including West Palm Beach, Tamarac and Coral Springs.
The company aims to open more than 20 restaurants in South Florida, including two Palm Beach County diners – in Delray Beach and Royal Palm Beach – slated for mid-2019 openings.
“Metro Diner knows South Florida is a unique region composed of numerous residential communities and is home to a large population of residents who all share a common interest in enjoying great food,” said Jonathan Ginsburg, Metro Diner joint venture partner of Southeast Florida.
The company was featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” It was named Best Breakfast, 2014-2017 by Jacksonville Magazine, Best Fried Chicken and Best New Restaurant by the Fayetteville Observer, Best Fried Chicken by Indianapolis Monthly, and Best Family-Style Restaurant (2014) and Best Key Lime Pieby the Jacksonville Daily Record.
